Osaka Moonshot Expo Participation and Outreach in Hong Kong, Macau

Professor Vijayakumar travels to Osaka and Hong Kong, August 2025

Professor Sethu Vijayakumar took part in the Moonshot Expo demonstration 2025 with visits (August 2025) to the Moonshot 3 goals, which experienced huge interests from the crowds on the topic of whole body manipulation and generalisation of demonstrated movements as MPC policies. Members of the Ogata and Sugano labs led the demonstrations of the various project outputs.

Prof Vijayakumar also took a roadshow of outreach activities to highlight Moonshot activities. This included an invited talk to the faculty and students of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on August 11, 2025 -- which resulted in new collaborations, a joint project and new paper submission to ICRA 2026 on the use of error correction in surgical interventions for effective LfD.

He presented and spend time collaborating on this project with the University of Macau, including a keynote at the 5th Macao International Conference on Smart City Technology (MCSCT’25) and also visiting the University of Macau Robotics Labs. He also made a brief visit to Moying Robotics company Shenzhen to explore the use of novel (humanoid with omnidirecitonal platform) hardware for deployment of the whole body motion planning algorithms developed as part of the Moonshot collaboration with Waseda University.
