TH6: How fourth year Informatics students use Generative AI to support their learning Prof Judy Robertson The Use of Generative AI Tools to Support Learning: Experiences of Fourth Year Informatics Students This talk will present work-in-progress findings from 10 interviews and a survey of 26 final year Informatics students about their use of Generative AI to support their learning on the Computing in the Classroom course and more generally. The talk will cover learning tasks which students use AI for, their concerns about the technology and their advice for new first year students about how to use AI for their studies. Dr Pavlos Andreadis Understanding and Shaping Generative AI Integration in Computer Science Education With an eye on enhancing the integration of Generative AI in our curriculum. The Computer Science Education group is launching an initiative (pending PTAS grant application) to investigate Generative AI's applications, challenges, and best practices specific to Computer Science education, focusing on the Schools of Mathematics, Business, and Informatics. We will outline our plans for the internal survey and collaboration with students and faculty, and welcome you ideas on the topic.
