Prospective PhD students

We welcome applications from motivated students with strong backgrounds in appropriate disciplines.

You are encouraged to look through the webpages for your chosen discipline and find one or two potential supervisors to discuss your research interests.

PhD programmes at the School of Informatics

We usually require potential PhD students to first study for an MSc degree. Potential students may be admitted directly to the PhD programme if they have carried out prior postgraduate study, or in exceptional circumstances. The School offers its own strong MSc programme. Alternatively we have several CDT programmes, the CDT in Machine Learning Systems (MLSystems) and the CDT in Artificial Intelligence for Biomedical Innovation (AI4BI).

The School website has information about applying for a place and funding to do graduate research. Some of the deadlines are early in the academic year, especially for funding options that you may find from your country of origin.
