Budget to support student-led outreach and science activities. We have budget allocated to support outreach activities arising from your PhD project. The Outreach Fund (OF) is available to all PhD students funded by the CDT. Examples of activities covered by the OF are organisation of outreach events, CDT students undertaking formal training in outreach skills, or creating audio-visual materials to disseminate your research to a wider audience. We are mindful that outreach can take many forms and are keen to keep the remit of the OF as flexible as possible to cater for diverse student-led ideas; to encourage creativity and fresh ideas, the OF has a needs-based maximum budget in this first roll-out phase. Application & Assessment Process If you are interested in making use of this fund, please ask the CDT Director directly for advice on eligibility, including a brief 250-word description of the activity and an estimated budget. Previous awards from the Research Fund (RF) or the Outreach Fund (OF) to a CDT student are independent from this fund and will not be considered in our decision to support. Conditions of Funding The OF is specifically to support costs associated with outreach activities arising from your PhD work. Suitable costs include, but are not limited to, presentation fees (e.g. for participating in science festivals), space rental, catering, or commissioning of audio-visual materials. Awarded funds must only be used for the outreach activity agreed with the CDT. Unspent funds will be recovered back to the OF funding pool for future use. Funds must be spent in accordance with the UKRI Terms and Conditions and relevant University policies and procedures. This article was published on 2024-11-22
