Title: Towards broader parabolic PDE solvers in geometry processing

Abstract: Numerical algorithms for parabolic PDE underlie many techniques dealing with geometric domains.  The most popular PDE solvers in geometry processing, however, favour linear PDE with low-order discretization. In this talk, I will describe efforts to design tools for solving parabolic PDE beyond these favoured regimes. Specifically, I will cover a convex optimization strategy tackling nonlinearity, as well as recent work on an iterative solver suitable for high-order discretization. This talk will cover collaborative research with Dan Fortunato, Dhairya Malhotra, Oded Stein, and Justin Solomon.
