A list of associate members of the Blockchain Technology Lab. Aydin Abadi Aydin Abadi is a lecturer in cyber security at the University of Gloucestershire. His main research interests include the field of cryptography, with a focus on: (a) Blockchain Technology and its Applications, (b) Private Set Intersection, (c) Smart Contracts' Design, implementation, and applications, and (d) Verifiable Computation. Prior to holding the lectureship position, he held a research associate position (for over 3.5 years) at the University of Edinburgh, where he was a member of the Blockchain Technology Laboratory directed by Professor Aggelos Kiayias. During holding the position he has designed and implemented various cryptographic protocols and blockchain-based applications. Papers Mike Borowczak Mike Borowczak is the Loy and Edith Harris Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Wyoming, where he also serves as the Director of the Cybersecurity Education and Research Center and Co-Director of the Wyoming Advanced Blockchain R&D Lab. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. His research interests include secure and resilient distributed cyber-physical and autonomous systems, high-level hardware security methods for lightweight agents, and information theory-based approaches to side channel attack protection. He is a senior member of the IEEE and ACM, and currently hold a joint appointment with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory where he is also a Fellow in the Center for Advanced Energy Studies. James Caldwell James Caldwell is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Wyoming and the Co-Director of the IOHK/Wyoming Advanced Blockchain Lab. He earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1998. He's previously worked at NASA Langley Research Center, at a leading industrial research lab, and at a VLSI start-up. His research interests are in formal verification for both hardware and software, interactive theorem proving, functional programming languages, and more generally, applications of the Curry-Howard isomorphism. Pyrros Chaidos Pyrros Chaidos is a postdoctoral researcher at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds a PhD in Cryptology from University College London. His research is focused on zero knowledge protocols and their applications to blockchains. He is also interested in e-voting, verifiable computation and multi-user signature schemes. Papers Maxim Jourenko Maxim Jourenko is a PhD student at Tokyo Institute of Technology within the Department of Mathematical and Computing Sciences. He received his Master of Science degree in Computer Science at RWTH Aachen University. His research interests are blockchain technology with a focus on off-chain protocols. Nikos Leonardos Nikos Leonardos is a researcher and director of the Blockchain Technology Laboratory at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His research interests are in theoretical computer science and cryptography. His current focus is in the formal analysis of blockchain technologies and distributed systems. Papers Mario Larangeira Mario Larangeira is a computer engineer and cryptographer who attended the Aeronautical Institute of Technology in Brazil and holds a master’s degree and PhD from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he currently holds the position of specially appointed associate professor. His professional background before joining IOHK in 2016 embraces software development and testing in aircraft, banking and telecommunication industries in both Brazil and Japan. Mario also has research experience in cryptography and has been engaged in cryptographic research on computational models, as generic group and ring models, security assumptions and proof of security in public-key cryptography. Papers Keisuke Tanaka Keisuke Tanaka is Professor of Department of Mathematical and Computing Sciences at Tokyo Institute of Technology. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Yamanashi in 1992 and his master's and PhD from the Japan Advanced Institute of Sciences and Technology in 1994 and 1997. For each degree, he majored in computer science. Before joining Tokyo Institute of Technology, he was a research engineer at NTT Information Sharing Platform Labs. Papers Janno Siim Janno Siim is a research fellow at the University of Tartu, and he holds a PhD degree in Cryptology. Previously he was also a research associate at the University of Edinburgh. His main research interests are cryptographic protocols and, in particular, efficient zero-knowledge proofs and electronic voting. Xiangyu Su Xiangyu Su is a PhD student of Department of Mathematical and Computing Sciences at Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he received his master’s degree. His research focuses on privacy-enhancing cryptographic protocols, and he is also interested in blockchain scalability and rational analysis. Vassilis Zikas Vassilis Zikas is a Senior Lecturer in Security and Privacy at the University of Edinburgh. He is also a research fellow and area leader in Secure Multi-Party Computation at the blockchain technology company IOHK. His research interests are in cryptography, computer security, and secure distributed computing, with emphasis in secure multi-party computation and blockchain technologies, rational cryptography, and privacy.
