06/07/2016 CISA Lunch: Gabriela Rino Nesin

The Mathematics Village in Turkey is a little idyllic village on a hillside near Izmir where mathematics is Queen: it is the perfect setting for summer schools, conferences, workshops, retreats for research groups, and other shenanigans in maths or related subjects. A non-profit organisation, it was built with the donations and sweat of very many people, and is run in a very cooperative way - most of the workers are volunteers.

I'll explain the Village's history and how it works and how you can organise something there - but most of all there will be a lot of pretty pictures, of which you can get a taste here: http://nesinkoyleri.org/eng/about/photos.php
