RA: Mattias Appelgren, Yuhui Lin, Craig Innes et al. By autonomous systems we mean AI systems that take decisions and act on them. This includes self-driving cars, drones, robot surgeons, etc. TAS is part of a huge, multi-site project to research how trust in such systems can be assured. The hub of TAS is based at Southampton and there are 5 nodes. Ram is PI of the Governance and Regulation Node, which is based in Edinburgh but includes staff from KCL, Nottingham, Sussex, Heriot Watt and Glasgow, plus numerous project partners from industry, etc. Within Edinburgh, the schools of Informatics, Law, Social Policy and Political Science and The Edinburgh Futures Institute. Our node's aim is defined as to "explore how to devise a framework for the regulation of autonomous systems – to help them respond to complexities of the world they function in." The aim is to automatically build a knowledge graph of Huawei's 5G network from system logs and its documentation, and to evolve that knowledge graph as the network changes over time.
