30 January 2017: Petros Papapanagiotou Creating Impact in Healthcare: Practical Challenges The potential impact of technology in healthcare provision has been increasingly highlighted worldwide in the recent years. In contrast to the plethora of research contributions to healthcare tech (e.g. in the UK with the Digital Health Institute and the EPSRC Healthcare Technologies theme), the impact to large providers such as the NHS, where innovation is notoriously hard, appears to be very slow. I will present my perspective of some practical challenges involved in creating impact in healthcare after more than 5 years of collaborative research projects, pursuing commercialisation opportunities and interacting with a range of academic, industrial, NHS and government stakeholders.
