9 April 2018: Alistair Hahn Title: Are we building the right thing? Abstract: Continuous deployment is transforming web software development by providing a mechanism for frequent deployment of software, even as organisations grow and the complexity of the application increases. There are many benefits including more predictable delivery, increased availability, reduced time to recovery and happier teams. In isolation, frequent delivery of software does not provide any guarantees of delivery of value. The talk will cover the story of implementation of continuous delivery, a mechanism for incrementally delivering value and learning from it, and challenges to its implementation. Bio: Alistair works as an adviser to several technology start-ups in the travel, health, and events sectors. Alistair co-founded the start-up Zoombu which was acquired by Skyscanner in January 2011 and served as Skyscanner CTO from then until its acquisition by Ctrip for £1.4bn in late 2016. Before starting Zoombu, Alistair was a post-doc in the machine learning and signal processing group at the University of Oxford.
