Nicolai Oswald wins the 2024 ACM SIGMICRO Dissertation Award

Congratulations to ICSA PhD Alumnus, Nicaolai Oswald, who was awarded the 2024 ACM SIGMICRO Dissertation Award (Honorable Mention).

Nicolai, previous student of Vijay Nagarajan, was recognised for his dissertation titled "Automatic Generation of Highly Concurrent, Hierarchical and Heterogeneous Cache Coherence Protocols from Atomic Specifications." 

This work aims to enable faster and more robust designs of cache coherence protocols through advanced protocol design automation.

The award acknowledges excellent thesis research by doctoral candidates in computer microarchitecture. Dissertations are evaluated for their technical depth, the significance of their research contributions, potential impact, and quality of presentation.

The 2024 IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Microarchitecture, was held in Austin, Texas from 2nd to 6th November 2024.
