The student study space on level 9 in Appleton Tower exists as part of the School of Informatics estate and is reserved for use for School of Informatics students only. Students on joint degrees or Informatics supervised projects do not qualify for access. All students requesting access to the Appleton Tower level 9 facilities should understand and be aware of the following: Level 9 is the furthest away from safety in the event of an emergency evacuation and as such everyone in the area needs to vacate as soon as the fire alarm activates for more than 40 seconds and at every activation. There are 2 exit routes from the level, one by the lifts (main stair) and one on the west end (west stair). Do not delay your departure. Do not take time to shut down computers, save work, wait for programs to complete, or undertake any task that prevents you from leaving immediately. The area will be removed from student access if there is a failure to follow the emergency evacuation procedure. Students should not give entry to other students. The student study space has CCTV coverage for the security and safety of all users. By requesting access you agree that you understand the above points and will adhere to instructions given. A copy of this form will be kept by the School of Informatics. Any student using the space who has not been given formal access will be removed and may face disciplinary action. As with all areas of the University, there are safety measures and expectations in place for users of this space. These can be found by following the link below.
