Edinburgh University Formula Student (EUFS) has unveiled its 2026 autonomous race car, “SISU26”, at a launch event hosted at the University’s Nucleus Building. The team plans to become the first in the UK to pass scrutineering with a fully Autonomous Driving System (ADS) vehicle. Launch Event at the Nucleus Building The launch took place on Monday 16 March, with EUFS members welcoming guests from across the University and industry. Attendees enjoyed a presentation outlining the team’s record‑breaking performance in the FS‑AI category and their plans to continue leading the field in autonomous motorsport. The team also showcased SISU26, named in honour of a former team member, demonstrating its autonomous wheel‑spinning capabilities before hosting a networking session connecting students with industry partners. Aiming for a UK First in Autonomous Scrutineering During the presentation, EUFS outlined their ambition to become the first team in the UK to complete scrutineering with an ADS vehicle — a major technical milestone in Formula Student competition. The launch event is always a significant milestone for the team. It gives us the opportunity to thank our sponsors, partners and supporters who make what we do at EUFS possible, whilst also energising and bringing the team together as we enter the final push towards the competition in July.
