Biography Bonnie Webber received her PhD from Harvard University and taught at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for 20 years before joining the School of Informatics. Bonnie’s research interests are discourse anaphora and discourse connectives. She is a Past President of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL), Fellow of the Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) and the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE). She works towards promoting women to more prominent positions in the NLP community and in Science and Technology more generally. ACL Lifetime Achievement Awards The ACL Lifetime Achievement Award was instituted in 2002 and has been given every year since. The award is conferred to recognise the work of a researcher who has made sustained and impactful contributions to the field of computational linguistics and natural language processing. The ACL Lifetime Award Committee will nominate and select at most one award recipient annually, considering the originality, depth, breadth and impact of the entire body of the nominees' work in computational linguistics and natural language processing. Bonnie Webber joins a cohort of distinguished former recipients of the award, among them: Karen Sparck Jones, Aravind Joshi, Fred Jelinek, Barbara Grosz and Mark Steedman (who was awarded in 2018).
