Professor Judy Robertson, Chair in Digital Learning, who holds a joint appointment with the School of Informatics and Moray House School of Education and Sport, has received a Suffrage Science Award in Computing in recognition of her work on AI literacy in schools. She was nominated for the award by Professor Sue Sentance (University of Cambridge). The Suffrage Science Awards recognise women who have made significant contributions to science and aim to build a long-term network of role models across disciplines. Founded in 2011 by Dame Amanda Fisher and Vivienne Parry OBE, the scheme uses a distinctive heirloom model: each awardee receives a piece of Suffrage Science jewellery and, every two years, nominates another woman to receive the award, creating an international network of recipients. The Maths and Computing awards ceremony took place on Monday 26 January at the University of Oxford, hosted by the Suffrage Science founders and colleagues from across mathematics and computing. Professor Robertson attended the ceremony online. About Professor Judy Robertson Professor Robertson has been developing educational technology with children and teachers since 1997.
