Informatics student finalist in Undergraduate of the Year Awards

Marian has been chosen out of the hundreds of applicants that applied after completing an online application and psychometric tests.

The targetjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards is a competition open to students across the UK where they can win prizes such as placements, internships and trips abroad with internationally recognised organisations. This year there were 12 different awards that cover a range of academic subjects and skillsets, almost 4,000 students applied.

All entrants had to first complete an application, including essay-style questions and bespoke online tests devised by SHL. Once passing that stage students were either invited to a telephone interview or take part in an assessment centre.

Rolls-Royce are the award partner for this year. 

The winners will be announced at the award ceremony on the 29^th  April.

I first came upon this award through a newsletter email from the University. I was particularly drawn to the Female Undergraduate award and wanted to put my hat in the ring. I wanted to test my capabilities and see how I fare in a competitive setting. The process includes an application, short answer questions, three tests and from there an assessment centre for the finalists."

"The award is coupled with a summer internship at Rolls Royce which would allow me to pursue my interest for applied data analytics. The award has increased my confidence in my abilities as I have made the finalists and inspires me to continually challenge myself to push my boundaries. I am of the few computer scientists that reached this level; my data science module and participation in EUTIC were essential in determining and communicating patterns at the assessment centre which garnered my success. I am thankful for this opportunity and extends my congratulations to all other finalists.
