Why did you choose to study in Edinburgh?

There are two very important aspects I took into consideration when deciding where to go for my studies.

  1. I was not entirely sure what I wanted to study so having the option of going into a 4 rather than 3 year-long programme was very helpful. In my first two years I had the chance to try other subjects which not only helped me decide what path to take, but it also equipped me with a much broader set of skills and knowledge that I would otherwise lack.
  2. The second aspect is of a more practical nature, as a European student I was fortunate for European Union covering my tuition costs, which meant I would not need to take a loan for my studies.

Why did you choose to study Informatics?

My path was a bit different, I initially started as a Chemistry student and took advantage of the four year programme to take some Informatics courses. Prior to this I've never had any experience with programming and my initial aim was just to familiarise myself with coding as a tool. However, the courses were just incredible and seeing from day one the bigger picture of how our knowledge can be applied to real world - Professors always showed us applications of their teachings - persuaded me that this is something I want to study and work with in the future.

What do you do for fun?

When I'm not studying I can be found in the kitchen experimenting, sometimes it works many times it doesn't, playing chess for the university, discovering post-napoleonic history or work on projects of my own interests.
